Singles Night

I've lived in France for just over four years now. There are quite a few Britts out here, disillusioned Britts, who just want to find something better. They buy a run down stone cottage with plenty of land in the middle of no-where. At first they are too busy renovating to notice what they've done, they one day they wake up and realise!
The English here are issolated. I came over on my own. I live in the centre of a beautiful little town, but without the language. I also discovered that I was vulnerable because the French regard the English as rich, and fair game. The biggest problem of all was the evenings. I spent a lot of evenings in the pub, and other evenings I spent drinking alone. Then I met Dave.
Dave was the love of my life, not at first; I had no intention of getting involved again. He was a musician. He asked if I'd like him to play in my tea house on the music festival night. He arrived in the morning of that day with his tool kit, to do some DIY that he had spotted needed doing. He then played, from mid-day to mid-night barely breaking for a cup of tea. It wasn't till just before midnight that I realised he was trying to impress me!
Dave and I were together for two and a half years, and then, with no warning he died. It was just before Christmas this year.
Now, like at least half the Britts over here, I am lonely again!
A couple of weeks ago I looked on a webb site for Britsin Brittany. I was amazed to find others in the same position. I put out a post to see if any would like to get together. Last night we had our first gathering. Ten singles five ladies and five men, few of which new anyone else there, out for a curry. It took some organizing. Four people backed out at the last minute, but it was a start. I am now collecting email addresses of any others who might be interested, and planning the next event. Must keep the ball roling!
